Britain’s leading skin care brand Flexitol has a new look and an incredible challenge: To Save the Nation’s skin.
Flexitol provides complete protection against skin complaints that devastate lives and cost the economy millions.
Thousands of working days are lost each year as a direct result of skin complaints including Eczema, Psoriasis and Dermatitis but the damage caused to our feet is far worse – particularly for diabetic patients.
There are more than 2.8 million diagnosed diabetics (*) and with more than 1 million people unaware they have the Type 2 diabetes.
More than 100 of those patients EVERY WEEK (**) are forced to undergo lower limb amputations (this includes toe, foot and leg amputations) as a result of complications. The majority of those operations could have been avoided.
Diabetes can damage nerves, muscles, sweat glands and circulation in the feet and legs, leading to amputations. Reviewing the feet of people with diabetes regularly, keeping blood glucose lelvels, blood fats and blood pressure under control can prevent complications associated with the feet.
The rate of leg amputations in people with diabetes is 15 times higher than in people without.
Apart from the devastating effect these operations have on patients and their families they come at a huge financial price – costing the NHS an estimated £60 million a year (***).
Doctors currently prescribe Flexitol products to diabetics sufferers but now, backed by a global rebrand the Flexitol range will be available to more people than ever before as parent company LaCorium leads the fight to protect a Nation’s skin
Flexitol Brand Manager Leanne Adam said: “More and more people are suffering with dermatitis and skin complaints than ever before due to a combination of poor diet, modern lifestyles and rising stress levels.
“As a nation we are not taking care of our feet, mostly because for the majority of the time our feet are not on show and so dry cracked skin is simply ignored or goes undetected.
“For too long skin care has been seen as a luxury rather than a necessity but that attitude has to change for the good of the nation’s long term health.
“Traditionally skin care products have been introduced to the market via the beauty industry but Flexitol’s entire range has been developed in conjunction with Health Care Professionals.
“Flexitol is the choice of the health profession, prescribed by the NHS and now we are ensuring it is accessible to all via the High Street, with Flexitol available in more outlets than ever before.”
Flexitol’s parent company Laderma Trading Pty Ltd will become known as LaCorium Health International Pty Ltd as part of the global restructuring process and a corporate website will unite the Flexitol range of products.
Steven Sher, Managing Director of LaCorium Health International said: “We are thrilled to announce the rebrand of the entities within our group of companies as LaCorium Health, reinforcing our position as an innovative growing player in the global OTC Healthcare market.
“This new name for our business is better aligned with our long term strategy, products and therapeutic areas encompassing skincare and health & wellbeing products.”
Warren Barr, General Manager, LaCorium Health UK Ltd said: “Our global rebrand provides our UK customers with the added confidence that they are dealing with a truly global and dedicated supplier of skincare and wellbeing solutions.”

Information for Editors:
Type 1 diabetes develops when the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the cells that produce insulin. As a result the body is unable to produce insulin and this leads to increased blood glucose levels, which in turn can cause serious damage to all organ systems in the body.
Whether you’ve just been diagnosed or have been living with the condition for years, we’re here to answer your questions about Type 1 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes develops when the body does not produce enough insulin to maintain a normal blood glucose level, or when the body is unable to effectively use the insulin that is being produced. We provide information and support to help you manage Type 2 diabetes.
