Julian Tomlinson kicks off his quest for glory tomorrow at the National Squash Championships.
The Chorley based pro will line up alongside the likes of defending champion Nick Matthew and James Willstrop in squash’s showpiece event hosted in Manchester.
Tomlinson knows the British National Squash Championships represents a fantastic opportunity for him to gain experience – though he has to be realistic about his title hopes.
“It is a bit too early for me to expect to genuinely challenge for the title,” Tomlison told Onside PR.
“It is fantastic experience for me and when you get into a tournament you never know what might happen with a little bit of luck.
“Realistically my aim is to make the main draw but this is the beginning of my career as a professional and every year I will get stronger, fitter and gain better stamina which is vital in squash.
“The British Nationals is my favourite tournament as it’s local, my family, friends and sponsors can all come and support me and I will look to give them a good show!”
Tomlinson will begin his campaign tomorrow against the winner of the qualifying match featuring Luke Bishop and Tom Bamford.
They will play tomorrow morning with the winner facing up to Tomlinson at 19:15 on Monday evening as the tournament proper gets underway.
