Onside PR teamed up with Bugler Smith to film the latest American Golf TaylorMade advert at the former Woodford Aerodrome.
The former BAE Systems base was transformed from former factory to film set for the day to launch the new TaylorMade Burner Plus set of irons.
Bulger Smith hung lights and set up a temporary indoor driving range with a huge golf ball hung from the rafters for the golfers to hit.
Historic
Woodford Aerodrome was established in 1920s and responsible for the production of historic aircraft such as the Lancaster Bomber, the Nimrod and the Vulcan before being forced to close it’s doors in 2010.
Since being acquired by Avro Heritage Ltd in 2011 the site has been promoted by Onside PR as a potential film venue or set and has attracted numerous projects.
Onside PR MD James Fletcher, said: “We have been inundated with enquiries from a variety of companies looking to use Woodford for a variety of reasons.
“The longer term plan for Avro Heritage and Woodford has always been to redevelop the site in the best possible way for both the site, the community and of course Avro Heritage.
Location
“The overwhelming desire is that the site is redeveloped for housing but there are a number of sensitivities regarding the site, it’s location and the desires of local people.
“Whilst planning permissions, possibilities for the site and discussions take place with interested parties it makes sense to see that the site remains active and available for some use.
“The request by Bulger Smith to use the main hanger for the film shoot was a perfect fit, the hanger has been cleared and is ready for demolition to begin when planning is granted and so it is a perfectly safe environment for the days shoot.
“It did seem slightly strange to see a huge golf ball hung from the rafters that would previously have held aircraft parts but clearly the TaylorMade irons made the difference and the overall day was a huge success and the film fascinating to watch.”
