The Chinese Buffet officially opened in Halifax yesterday with a super sixth restaurant!
Mayor of Calderdale Cllr John Hardy and Mayoress Cllr Janet Hardy kindly performed the ribbon cutting honours at the new £1 million venue.
The Chinese Buffet owners invited almost 100 VIP guests to the official opening – whilst hungry diners tucked into a feat fit for a king!
Hundreds of guests queued to dine in the restaurant as the VIP event drew to a close – creating incredible scenes!
Hungry diners – without bookings – were prepared to wait up to an HOUR for a table as Halifax tucked into it’s latest tasting offering.
Managing director Peter Wu, said: “It was a great afternoon and we are very grateful to the Mayor and Mayoress for opening our restaurant.
“The results already have been quite staggering, we knew this venue had great potential but nobody could have expected this.
“It appears that Halifax have been waiting for us for some time! We were literally bursting at the scenes and we won’t have expected anyone to know that we were even here yet?
“Last week we opened unofficially, a soft opening if you like, and there 500 people queuing waiting for us to open! It was crazy!
“The VIPs all seemed to enjoy themselves yesterday and now we hope word will spread and new customers will keep coming.”
The Chinese Buffet is expanding rapidly. In just 18 months the restaurant owners have added FOUR new venues to their stable which now consists of venues in Bolton, Halifax, Preston, St Helens, Wakefield and Wigan.
Wrexham will follow in the summer with Wakefield a target for the Autumn and other towns to follow next year.
Each venue creates around 50 new jobs meaning The Chinese Buffet have employed 300 people – at a time of economic uncertainty.
Mayor Cllr John Hardy said: “I am very impressed with what the owners have done here, the venue is stunning and the food was delicious.
“It takes real bravery in this economic climate for businesses to invest and expand and the owners should be applauded for that. They have created jobs and provided Halifax with a first class facility.”
The Chinese Buffet aim to smash the image that exists around buffet style restaurants by providing high quality food in stylish settings – yet the price remains low.
They are open from noon until 10.30pm offering a Lunch Buffet and then Grand Buffet in the evening. The food is the same high standard but there is more choice during the Grand Buffet.
Each restaurant boasts a theatre style Teppanyaki grill allowing diners to choose their own ingredients and watch it cooked before their very eyes, a Dim Sum counter, Sushi bar and stunning desert section with more than 30 choices.
