Thousands of children from Bolton and Bury have entered The Chinese Buffet sponsored ‘Paint a Portrait’ competition to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The competition, organised by The Bolton News, is encouraging youngsters from the around the area to paint their picture of the monarch ahead of her 60th anniversary on the throne.
Now judges of The Chinese Buffet competition must pick 250 which will appear in a special supplement which will be published later this month.
The Chinese Buffet Managing Director Peter Wu, said: “The standard of the entries is very high. There are obviously a lot of talented young artists in Bolton and it’s going to be really difficult to pick the best ones.
“I’ve really enjoyed looking at what I’ve seen so far.”
The best pictures will appear in a special supplement featured in The Bolton News next Friday – May 18th – and readers will be able to vote for their favourites by phone the following week.
There are two age categories, four to seven years and eight to 12 years and the finalists work will be one show in The Chinese Buffet’s Bridge Street restaurant.
The winners will be announced in June with their winning designed immortalised in a professional print by Impressions Ltd of Bolton and reproduced on a large block of milk chocolate by the Whitefield patissier and chocolatier Slattery’s.
The winners will receive a one kilo bar of chocolate featuring their picture. Each winner will also win a family meal at The Chinese Buffet.
