ICP Networks have been A rated when it comes to energy excellence.
The Networking and IT specialists have been officially recognised the Government for their work in creating Lexicon House, their global headquarters already dubbed the ‘Greenest IT HQ’ in Britain.
ICP Networks purchased a 40-year-old former warehouse and converted it into a stunning 16,500 sq foot installation that has won numerous awards for its eco-build qualities.
Modern lighting, heating sensors, 200 solar panels generating 48,000 Kilowatts per year and a heat recovery system have transformed the former shell into headquarters that is the envy of the IT industry.
Lexicon House actually produces almost three times the amount of energy required by ICP Networks meaning they pay no energy bills and actually sell the surplus energy back to the Grid generating a healthy annual return.
ICP Networks MD Matt Archer, said: “This latest award for our sustainable building underlines the improvement of an existing building and our companies 100% commitment to sustainability and Green IT.
“When we set out to create Lexicon House we did it for the right reasons, namely we care about the environment and our impact on it yet we probably didn’t envisage the external recognition we would receive for our work.
“Lots of businesses may say they care but then fail to back up their works but ICP Networks have gone the extra mile and to have that work recognised is an amazing feeling.
“The rules and regulations around a building’s sustainablity are pretty tough and the inspection is carried out by an independent Government inspector who is quite rightly extremely strict. The standards are sky high.
“When we purchased this building which was a 4o-year-old warehouse it was rated as a ‘C’ in terms of its energy efficiency. The work we have carried out has improved the building by a staggering 48 points and the ‘A’ standard which is a true honour.
“It has not been easy, it has not been without significant cost but we take our responsibilities serious and from a practical point of view we clearly recognise that the more energy efficient we are the greater savings we will make long term.”
ICP Networks were LABC Regional Finalists in the Building Excellence Awards, been featured by The Guardian and selected by EON for a staring role in a national campaign designed to demonstrate how businesses can become more eco-friendly and therefore more efficient.
