Social housing leaders from across the UK have been given an insight into Protect24’s innovative retrospective fire safety solutions.
Delegates from local authorities and housing associations attending CIH Housing 2018 were given a VIP tour of Protect24’s ongoing work to protect residents in Greater Manchester.
Protect24 are midway through a £5-million program to provide retrospective fire protection measures for the ForViva Group.
They want to retrofit first safety measures including fire sprinkler systems at 17 properties across the North West.
Protect24 MD Mark Lyons, said: “It was a great afternoon and I believe the delegates were able to gain a valuable insight into what can be done to protect residents.
“Groups of six were taken around the site whilst the works were ongoing to see the process and talk to residents about their experiences.
“Nigel Sedman, Group Director of Homes at ForViva, and I addressed the study tour and we hosted a question and answer session which was a real success.”
CIH 2018 is Europe’s largest and most inclusive housing festival. It is the Chartered Institute of Housing’s annual conference and is hosted in Manchester.
The two-day conference features keynote addresses and panels from government officials and leaders in the housing sector.
Forty-three delegates joined Protect24 and client ForViva for a two-hour study tour of the retrofit sprinkler program at a block in Eccles, Greater Manchester.
Protect24 engineers are currently installing fire sprinklers at the block as part of a £5-million project to retrofit 17 high rise blocks in the North West for ForViva.
Two officers from Merseyside Fire Brigade also attended the tour. They will be working with Protect24 and ForViva, when work begins in Knowsley later this years in the final phase of works.
More than 1,300 tenants will be protected against the risk of fire when the fire protection systems are complete.
