SQUASH Star Julian Tomlinson has hit the Net!…..with a new website!
The Bolton based squash star has launched www.juliantomlinson.com as he bids to make his mark on the professional circuit.
Tomlinson is playing First Division squash for two senior mens team and coaches youngsters across the North West.
He believes the new website will enable him to keep fans, sponsors and supporters abreast with his latest news and developments.
And the budding entrepeur will use the website to sell sporting goods and offering a stringing service for all racket sports.
He said: “I’m really pleased with the new website, it is a great way of being able to keep everyone up to date with my progress.
“It seemed a bit strange at first as I think I’m quite a modest person but if I am serious about carving a career for myself as a professional then a website is crucial.
Passion
“Squash is my passion but it is also my business now and the website will enable me to develop that side of myself – and hopefully help to generate an income.
“It is so easy to concentrate on the main job – playing squash – that you forget to tell people how you are doing?
“I hope the website will also allow me to give people an insight into the sport. Being a professional sportsman is not all glamour, certainly not at the beginning.
“It is incredibly hard and incredibly expensive as you start your way up in the sport. There is lots of travelling involved, hotel bills and the mileage soon adds up as we travel from tournament to tournament.
“It’s amazing how attached I’ve become to my iPod and my disposable toothbrush! Now I can keep you updated through my blog.”
Tomlinson plays First Division Squash for East Lancs in the North West Counties Squash League and for Heaton in the Yorkshire Premier Division.
The 19-year-old travels around the UK competing in various tournaments and coaches a variety of students – from complete beginner to semi-professionals – around the North West.
Tomlinson is backed by Bolton based Crompton Place Shopping Centre, Titan Sports and Onside PR – and he believes the new website will make him more attractive to sponsors as it will increase their online visibility.
Now the youngster will look to develop a retail business that will supplement his playing career and ensure his clients receive top quality equipment – at huge discounts.
He added: “I can’t say too much at this stage but we are talking to a top retailer about a deal that would enable me to supply all sorts of sporting equipment – not just squash – at discounted prices.
“It is exciting and I will announce further details as soon as I can.
“I think it’s important for my sponsors that I have a website – and that I update it regularly – to ensure their brands are seen regularly.
“We have big plans for 2013, the online side of squash is something that is new to me but we will be developing the site as we move forward – and hopefully a couple of victories will increase traffic!”
Tomlinson will endeavour to update his website every week to keep supporters and sponsors updated with his latest results and news.
