Network Plus have become one of the first UK business to deploy the Halo Shield in their fight to beat Covid-19.
The leading utility and infrastructure provider maintain, construct and deliver essential services to millions of customers across the UK.
They have continued to operate throughout the recent Coronavirus lock down literally ensuring Britain remains switched on as the world ground to a halt.
Now, as lockdown eases and the UK prepares for a full return to work, they are keen to protect staff, visitors and clients.
Protection
They have installed the Halo Shield at the entrance to their Manchester head office to provide protection to those workers inside – by identifying and then refusing entry – to anyone with an elevated temperature.
Matthew O’Sullivan, Support Services Director at Network Plus and Go Traffic Management, said: “The system works very efficiently and simply alerts us, and them, to the fact that they have an elevated temperature.
“It doesn’t mean they have Covid-19, but it does indicate that something may be wrong – or they may simply be too hot.
“Anyone identified can wait a few minutes and then try again, and providing they are below the threshold they can come in, if not they will be asked to go home and isolate and / or potentially seek medical help if their situation deteriorates.
Covid-19
“One of the things we have learned about Covid-19 is that some people can have the virus and yet remain totally unaffected – and in those cases they unwittingly become carriers who could pass the virus onto others.
“We are just trying to ensure everyone who works here, or visits Network Plus remains safe.”
The Halo Shield was developed by leading security specialists Red CCTV and uses a combination of thermal imaging cameras and artificial intelligence.
It is able to remotely scan people as they pass, from a distance of 3m, and immediately provide a body temperature reading, even if they are wearing a face mask or even motorcycle helmet.
Network Plus will install the Halo Shield system at their most important depots across the UK.
